Stress...Its
the latest buzz word for a cause of disease. The damaging effects of Stress
and Chronic Tension are now a major focus of the health profession. The
mishandling of stress and its resulting conditions - Hypertension,
heart disease, Migraine headache, ulcers, muscle tension - can rob individuals
of their quality of life.
Stress, in itself,
is not the problem. Life is inherently stressful. When effectively dealt
with, stress tends to strengthen our physical, mental, and emotional resolve.
There are numerous
approaches to stress management, besides good nutrition and a vigorous
exercise regime, hands on is one of the best ways to directly
affect the bodys response to stress.
Massage and the varied
therapies can relieve the effects of stress, alleviate pain, flush toxins
from tired muscles, increase circulation, strengthen the immune system,
induce relaxation, relieve chronic headaches, and give one a sense of
well being.
As a Nationally Certified
Massage Therapist (NCTMB), a Member of the Association of Bodyworkers
& Massage Professionals (ABMP) and a registered with Thai Healing
Alliance International, it would be a pleasure to provide
those healing therapies for you.
I have been working
in the area full time since June 1993 and have, as of December 1, 2002,
relocated my office near my home in Lost Creek, WV, 10 miles South of
Clarksburg.
NEVER
HAD A MASSAGE?
At your first session,
you will fill out a medical history form. I will discuss your health history
and your goals for the session. I will describe a typical session and
invite any questions you may have. Client comfort is of primary concern.
All you have to do then is to RELAX!
I do an eclectic form
of massage. The condition your body, mind, and spirit is in will determine
the type of massage that will be best suited for your current needs.
THAI MASSAGE
"Nuad Bo-Rarn" is an unique form of body therapy dating back
to ancient times. It is the combination of Yoga stretching, the
calmness of meditation, acupressure, exercise movement, and reflexology
all in one therapy session. The therapy performed on a mat that is
placed on the floor to give the therapist access to full mobility of the
client's range of motion. The client is dressed in loose,
comfortable clothing. A session with Thai Massage will leave one
feeling loose, stretched and invigorated. Please allow a minimum
of 1 ½ hours to a maximum of 2 ½ hours per session.
SWEDISH MASSAGE
A method that focuses on stress reduction and relaxation. Vigorous rubbing,
kneading and stretching strokes are used to increase the circulation
and promote relaxation. It flushes wastes such as lactic acid from overworked
muscles to relieve aches and pains. Can be given very soft and gently
or firm and deep, depending on the clients needs.
HOT STONE MASSAGE
Combining heated RIVER STONES with various essential oils before being
slowly rolled along the skin, will enable your mind and body to find
a much deeper level of relaxation than a regular massage. Any tension
within the muscle starts to evaporate in this cocoon of pressured warmth
and comfort. Please allow 1-1/2 hours for this therapy.
NEUROMUSCULAR
MASSAGE
Is very effective for persistent or serous muscle pain. It focuses on
muscle spasms, tight muscles, and chronic muscular pain. The deep muscle
work is more specific than Swedish Massage, as it searches the involved
muscle and releases the located problem areas. Some examples where NMT
can aid in relief are: athletic injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome, menstrual
cramps, headaches, low back, neck and upper back pain.
REFLEXOLOGY
There are reflex areas in the hands and feet that correspond to every
part of the body including the organs and glands. These parts can
be affected by stimulating the appropriate reflex areas.
Reflexology is used to relieve stress and tension, stimulate deep
relaxation, improve the blood supply and promote the unblocking of nerve
impulses to normalize and balance the entire body. Reflexologists apply
precise pressure to release blockages that inhibit energy flow and cause
pain and disease. This affects the internal organs and glands by
stimulating reflex points of the body. This targets and breaks up lactic
acid and calcium crystals accumulated around the 7,200 nerve endings in
each foot. this is why we feel so much better when we get our feet
treated. Reflexology is helpful for people with hypertension, anxiety,
or painful conditions of the body. It is a safe and simple way to
induce relaxation and a genuine sense of ell-being and to help the body
to heal itself. Restoring and maintaining health through the massage of specific points
on the feet, that have far reaching effects on the whole body. By just
having your feet massaged and specific points worked, your whole body
feels refreshed and relaxed.
REIKI
Reiki is an ancient art of healing that is used for stress reduction and
relaxation. It can expedite the healing process, alleviate pain,
while helping to rebalance and refocus the body, mind, and spirit.
Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotion, mind, and spirit
while creating many beneficial effects including relaxation, feelings of
peace, security and well-being. Reiki is used in several major
hospitals as a complimentary therapy treating health problems ranging
from stress to major surgery.
